Tranquility: The Ascent is a stand-alone sequel to Tranquility in which players work together to complete a grid of numbers as they climb the mountain. Players start at the bottom of the mountain and are tasked with completing a pyramid-shaped grid from the base to the top. The base of the mountain is nine cards wide, the row above it is eight, and so on, with the top row consisting of a single top card that is played once the rest of the grid is completed. During your turn, you must play a card on the mountain or discard two cards. Cards are numbered 1 through 12 and contain one of three different types of terrain. You may not play cards of the same terrain type next to each other and you must also discard the difference between cards when they are played next to each other, for example, if you place a 7 next to a 4, you must discard three cards. Rows are completed from left to right and the numbers on the cards can increase, decrease or stay the same. Rows can contain any number except for this one restriction: the number on a terrain card must equal or exceed the number of the row, meaning that a 1 can only be played in the first row, while numbers 8-12 can be played in any row. You can start a new row if at least the first two cards are placed in the row below it. Cards must always be "backed up" by the two cards immediately below them, but they do not relate in any way to the rows above or below them, i.e. the first row can start with a 10, while the next row starts with a 1. If players complete the mountain and climb it with a summit card, they win; if a player cannot perform an action during their turn, everyone loses. Tranquility: The Ascent contains three mini-expansion modules that can be added separately or together. "The Green Path" requires players to form a continuous path from the bottom to the top of the mountain. "The Panorama" module gives players specific number ranges to photograph. And finally, drive the "mountain goats" to the top, where the grass is greener in the final section. - 88 square cards (60 mm × 60 mm) - 10 Panorama tiles - 12 wooden goat meeples - 1 wooden hiker meeple
